Harry Wiley
Harry Wiley Co. began in 1956 when Harold Wiley, a plate maker with Para Print, struck out on his own to start a pre-press shop in Philadelphia. Harry Wiley Co. quickly became a leading trade shop in the area, providing prepress services and printing plates to the flexo printing industry.
The first plates Harry Wiley provided were made of rubber molded from metal etched master plates. The design of these plates was created by paste up artists working on drafting boards long before computers were introduced to the process. Eventually Harry Wiley Co. began to offer photopolymer printing plates along with magnesium dies. Through the years with his son Steve joining the business, the family run business grew out of the Philadelphia facility and moved to Delaware County, PA.
For decades Harry Wiley Co. supplied design, prepress and printing plates to companies such as Scott Paper, Amcor & Reynolds and was a staple within the printing industry. In 1997, Harry Wiley’s son, Steve Wiley joined PlateCrafters bringing decades of experience and dedication to craftsmanship. PlateCrafters continues to service many of Harry Wiley Co.’s customers to this day and continues the tradition of the highest quality combined with personalized service.
