About PlateCrafters: Our History

Founded in 1971 by C.J. Spering, PlateCrafters began as a rubber platemaker for the newspaper imprint industry. As pre-press technology evolved, we incorporated the latest innovations to ensure the highest quality printing products and services to our loyal customers. In fact, PlateCrafter’s very first customer is still a loyal and happy customer today.

The late 1970’s ushered in the photopolymer plate era, with gave printers the ability to produce multicolor work. The following decade was marked by advancements in typesetting, and the 1990’s integrated computer software into the flexoplate industry.

In 2004, PlateCrafters introduced digital platemaking services for all industries. From the corrugated to the pharmaceutical industries, and more; we have the knowledge and capabilities to meet and exceed our client’s expectations.

With locations in the Northeast, Southeast, and Midwest; PlateCrafters has grown and adapted to changes throughout the printing industry. This has been possible by retaining its commitment to craftsmanship and pride in a job well done, while acquiring the most advanced software and equipment available.
